Republicans take aim at Altmire, Kanjorski on Immigration

Republicans are criticizing Democratic Congressmen Jason Altmire and Paul Kanjorski over the lack of progress on immigration reform.

"Congressman Altmire has repeatedly said he wants to see a vote on this bill and touts his 'leadership' role on the SAVE Act. A bill with 147 co-sponsors has never even moved in committee since it was introduced in November 2007 – including a committee Jason Altmire sits on. His actions do not live up to his grandiose words," said Melissa Hart, a Republican who is challenging Altmire in the 4th District.

"Jason Altmire is doing the bidding of his liberal leaders in Washington instead of working on a bipartisan basis to address our broken borders," said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain.

"Jason Altmire has not only ignored the interests of Pennsylvania voters, but he has quickly become a part of the problem in Washington where nothing gets done even when voters are crying for change and looking for answers."
Spain spread the NRCC's attacks to 11th District Rep. Paul Kanjorski as well.

"Paul Kanjorski has failed to show leadership in Washington, especially on the immigration issue. It shouldn't take an uproar of his constituency to finally take action on an important issue," said Spain.

Republican Lou Barletta is running against Kanjorski in the 11th.
