Accurate or not poll likely to help Dahlkemper

When Roll Call/SurveyUSA released their poll showing Democratic candidate Kathy Dahlkemper leading Phil English 4 percentage points in PA-3 the initial reaction from English and Republicans was "it's a phone poll." SurveyUSA is indeed a phone poll, but during the presidential primary campaigns they proved to be failry accurate.

English's campaign claims they hold a slim lead in their internal polls, and their internal polls may be more accurate. But that is not going to matter to the Dahlkemper team. Not only can they say they have polling that shows them running even with English, they now have an independent poll by Roll Call that shows the same thing.

Why is that important? Washington DC dollars! PAC's are often reluctant to believe internal polls from challengers showing them running even with incumbents. But when you can show them your top lines along with an independent poll from Roll Call, they may start listening and believing. So whether this poll is accurate or not it will probably have the effect Dahlkemper wants it to have.
