I was appalled when the gaffer Biden said what he did about coal. He pretends to be a Pennsylvanian but I don't know of any true PA guy or gal who would ever say anything negative about coal. Our families have at one time or another been involved in coal. Remember Joe coal was king one time and now you show your true colors by making degrading comments about coal. We coal crackers won't forget you on election day! Especially, since your buddy, Obama, talks about how we cling to our guns and religion. Well, what's wrong with that. Perhaps Obama can ask Rev. Wright and Father Flager about religion and you about your anti gun positions. Neither Obama nor Biden have Pennsylvania values.

Come on, take your head out of the sand. If the coal industry hadn't been so averse to the idea of scrubbers, and washington had acted in the best interests of everyone involved the coal industry would be in a much better place today. The U.S. and of course western PA has so much coal that it should be one of our major exports. If the same zeal that was put into the destruction of Iraq, and placing our sons and daughters in harms way had been put into encouraging research into making coal safe for the environment Western PA would be booming now. Not just by mining, but also in manufacturing the machinery needed to make it a clean alternative.

I agree, somewhat. If the Democratic party had backed coal miners in the first place instead of going on a witch hunt, it would be in better shape. But it's such a nasty, dirty resource. While we sit and daydream about our ideal world, the rest of the world passes us by. The coal industry may not have been perfect, but it was always better than places like China. It was the legacy of the the boomer generation: NIMBY (Not in My Back Yard)that chased the mines and quarries out of town.

As a native of Northeast PA I remember the days of the mines and colleries and the coal trains rumbling past our old "comapny house" near Wilkes-Barre. But when I return to visit the family I see how dim that past has become. PA has changed as NY and NJ have spilled over and changed it forever.
PA is about to loose even more of it's traditions and character as it mindlessly follows the Unions and votes Obama, ignoring his far Left ideology and social values. You'r better cling to those guns, you're about to lose them.
