Cahir picks up teamsters' endorsement

Democratic U.S. House candidate Bill Cahir has won the endorsement of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers/International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

“The PA State Legislative Board supports Mr. Cahir and urges all BLET and unionized labor members to support Bill.  We will work for the election of Bill Cahir and send him to Congress to work for the betterment of all citizens and organized labor.  We are honored to provide this endorsement,” said the Teamsters’ chairman, Ken Kertesz.

Cahir starts up I-80 tour

Democrat Bill Cahir, one of the candidates in the crowded field to replace departing U.S. Rep. John Peterson, is launching this week what his campaign is calling the “No I 80 Toll Tour,” in which Cahir will voice his opposition to tolling proposals for Interstate 80.

The tour will take Cahir, a former newspaper reporter and an Iraq war veteran, to Bald Eagle State Park, Black Moshannon State Park, Clearfield, and Clarion.

Cahir pulls in $120K

Democrat Bill Cahir, the former political reporter who is now running for U.S. Congress in District 5, has raised $120,000 since entering the race in late February. The campaign has $100,000 on hand.

For a Democrat to win the seat, Cahir spokesperson Daren Berringer said, “Our nominee has to demonstrate that they can not only garner votes, but can raise enough money to reach out to new voters and voters of the opposite party. Our campaign is extremely pleased with the fact that in a rural and Republican stronghold district, hundreds of people from all walks of life are seeing Bill Cahir’s candidacy as a real opportunity to win this seat and get this country moving in the right direction.”

Cahir is one of three Democrats running for the seat Republican U.S. Rep. John Peterson is stepping down from after five terms.

Communication workers union endorses Cahir

Democrat Bill Cahir, running for U.S. Congress in District 5 to replace retiring Republican U.S. Rep. John Peterson, has won the endorsement of the Communication Workers of America.

“I am honored that our campaign has earned the endorsement of all the working women and men of the CWA,” said Cahir. “I understand what it will take to clean up the mess in Washington so that we begin to create jobs and provide universal health care to all Pennsylvania families.”
