Does Nader hurt McCain in PA?

In addition to showing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) with a 5 point advantage (48 percent to 43 percent) over U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), today's TIME/CNN poll also suggests that Obama's chances in the Keystone State may be boosted by the presence of third-party candidates on the ballot.

Nader on ballot

Three-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader will once again be on the ballot this November after collecting enough signatures from Pennsylvania residents before the Aug. 1 deadline.

Of course, he was originally on the ballot in 2004 before being thrown off because the Pennsylvania courts ruled many of his signatures were invalid. Nader's supporters have vowed this won't happen in 2008.

That controversy was reopened earlier this month when, as part of his 73-page "Bonusgate" presentment, Attorney General Tom Corbett alleged House Democratic staffers illegally worked on the taxpayer dime to remove Nader from the ballot.

Nader appeared at the state Capitol in July to rail against the corruption charges and demand he be recouped for the $81,000 he was ordered to pay after being removed from the ballot.

Nader guns for Pa. ballot spot

Today is the last day to file nominating petitions to get on the ballot in Pennsylvania, and Ralph Nader is taking notice.

Supporters of Nader are planning to submit paperwork with the signatures of more than double the 24,665 voters needed for third party candidates to get on the ballot, The Patriot-News reports. Pennsylvania is the 21st state where Nader, who announced that he would again run for president in February, has sought a spot on the ballot as an independent candidate.

Nader ran as a Green Party candidate in 2000, and was seen by many as a spoiler for then Vice President Al Gore. More recently, he has been warring with state Democrats over their alleged attempts to have him removed from the state's ballot in 2004.

Nader says DeWeese, others to pay price for 'Bonusgate'

HARRISBURG -- House Majority Leader Bill DeWeese (D-Greene County), law firms and the country's "corrupt" two-party system -- each were warned Wednesday by Ralph Nader that the ongoing "Bonusgate" investigations will reveal their rampant political corruption.

Speaking in the Capitol rotunda, the three-time Green Party presidential candidate said the revelations already delivered by Attorney General Tom Corbett have "shocked the conscience of those who believe in clean elections."

But Nader is asking the attorney general, the Federal Elections Commission and U.S. Department of Justice to delve deeper, particularly focusing on what connections DeWeese an unnamed law firm referenced in the attorney general's presentment had with the alleged corruption. The attorney general's charges were very thorough, he said, but showed only "the tip of the iceberg."
