Brett Lieberman

Patriot-News reporter Brett Lieberman is leaving the paper after 15 years to pursue a new opportunity with The Forward newspaper, a New York based Jewish paper.

Lieberman was going to be a casualty of the November cuts at Newhouse News Services so decided to take this opportunity when it presented itself.

Lieberman will be a new political correspondent covering the presidential race for The Forward and will remain based in DC.

We wish you well Brett and we are sure Rick Santorum will really miss you.

After a Sunday article in the Patriot-News, Steve Miskin, spokesperson for House Republican leader Sam Smith, had some critical words on the story.  While Miskin may have had problems with some aspects of the story, much of what was being reported by Charlie Thompson and Brett Lieberman we have been hearing through State House grapevines.  It appears Tom Corbett is indeed investigating both House and Senate Republicans in an effort to be thorough and bi-partisan.  With those investigations indictments could very well be coming for some prominent Republican names to join those already infamous Democratic bonusgate names.  This should make for an interesting summer either way.
