(Washington, D.C.) -- U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) made the following statement today announcing that he will not endorse either Senator Hillary Clinton or Senator Barack Obama until after the conclusion of the primary calendar on June 3.
"It is my hope that we as Democrats will be able to bring this race to a close and settle on our presumptive nominee soon after the final primary on June 3, and well in advance of the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
"It is critically important for me that the remaining states have the opportunity to hold their primaries and caucuses before the superdelegates rush to judgment.
"I believe Senator Clinton has earned the right to continue with her campaign through the finish line, after which the will of the people will become clear. At that time, after the American people have spoken, I will decide which candidate will receive my vote as a superdelegate. The most important factor in my decision will be preserving the integrity of our national democratic process and ensuring that the will of the American people is followed."
