HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Robert A. Gleason, Jr. called on Congressman Chris Carney to stand up for Pennsylvanians in the 10th Congressional District and sign a discharge petition that would force the Senate overhaul of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to the House floor.
“If Congressman Chris Carney is serious about getting things done for the people of his district, then he should join the nearly two-hundred Congressional members who signed a discharge petition that would force the Senate overhaul of the FISA to the House floor,” Gleason said. “Carney is already on the record as supporting this legislation, but has refused to do anything to help get it passed. The Protect America Act expired 81 days ago and our nation has been at risk for terrorist attack ever since. It’s time for Chris Carney to put his allegiances to Nancy Pelosi aside and do something to protect the hardworking people of northeastern Pennsylvania.
“Many Pennsylvanians living in the 10th Congressional District are looking forward to November so they can vote for Chris Hackett for Congress. They know that Chris will represent their values, not the values of San Francisco liberal House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Congressman Chris Carney has proven to be a loyal foot soldier in Nancy Pelosi’s liberal do-nothing Congress, and according to Congressional Quarterly, Carney votes with Pelosi 90% of the time! Despite Carney’s rhetoric to the contrary, he has demonstrated a willingness to follow a Democrat-led Congress that has chosen to do-nothing while fuel prices continue to soar, allowed FISA legislation to expire, and have played politics with the funding for our troops. The Democrat-led Congress has spent most of their time naming post offices and trying to pass meaningless resolutions, and I guess this is the record of accomplishments that Chris Carney will be pointing to during his reelection campaign. Unfortunately for Carney, Pennsylvanians demand more, and he has failed to deliver.”
