With superdelegates moving all day to back U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for the Democratic presidential nomination, U.S. Rep. Bob Brady (D-Philadelphia) has finally tossed in his support as well, The Boston Globe reports.
Television networks and other news organizations were projecting that Obama had secured enough delegates even before polls closed in South Dakota, which along with Montana held the long contest's last primaries today.
Brady, who had previously pushed other superdelegates to make their choice soon, called the Obama campaign tonight to signal his support, The Globe reported.
Party and elected officials in the state were hesitant to throw their support behind Obama all day. But between early returns from Montana and South Dakota and the flood of superdelegates backing the frontrunner over the last week, it was a near certainty that Obama would deliver his victory speech with enough delegates to declare victory.
