Specter: ‘I’m at the top of my game’

A second fight with Hodgkin's disease doesn't seem to be dimming Republican U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter's sprits. Now undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatments, Specter, 78 told The Patriot News that he still plans to run for reelection in 2010.U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.)U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.)

"I'm at the top of my game," he said in a story published on the newspapers website Wednesday night.

He said he still plays squash almost every day, and that he plans to aggressively campaign for Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president and court conservative voters who registered as Democrats to participate in the party's historic nominating contests.

Specter was diagnosed in April. He first suffered from the disease three years earlier.
