Of the three Democratic incumbents in Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation widely considered to be vulnerable in November, U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Nanticoke) was the only one who voted in favor of Monday's failed bailout bill.
On Tuesday, his campaign spokesman acknowledged that he "can't predict how this matter will play out" politically, but he defended the Kanjorski's vote as one of prinicple over politics.
"The Congressman stood up for the principle and did the right thing for the country," spokesman Ed Mitchell told PolitickerPA.com in an e-mail. "Some people may see that as a mistake today, but he didn't take into account political considerations. In a few days or a couple of weeks, he may be proven right."
He also sought to refocus the campaign issue on what he called the shifting positions of Kanjorski's opponent, Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta.
"You just can't trust Barletta," Mitchell said.
One name that has come up a few times as a potential gubernatorial candidate on the Democratic side is former Environmental Secretary Katy McGinty. ... >

Re:What's the truth?
I am sort of up in the air about Kanjorski. What is the truth about him trying to get millions of dollars on the sly for his family?
Also, he voted for the bailout but this again makes me suspicious because all his political ads I have seen are paid for by a real estate political pack. What has he done to get so much from a real estate lobby group? I think this deserves an explanation. Did this have anything to do with Fannie and Freddie which was the beginning of our economic woes? Suspicious to say the least.
Bailout
Ninety-Five percent of his constituents in the district were against the bill and Kanjorski voted for it.
Just follow the numbers to see why ! The vast majority of Kanjorski's donations come from financial institutions including FannieMae and FreddieMac.
Kanjorski is a disgrace and should do the honorable thing and resign. But, of course, Jankorski has no honor.
Defeat Kanjorski in the November election...
Kanjorski/Principle
Based on his past actions, the word "principle" and Kanjorski can not be used in the same sentence.
Voting for the bailout, against the wishes of the overwhleming majority of constituents, was the nail that sealed Kanjorski's political coffin.
