Dems dispute Kanjorski poll, offer up one of their own

U.S. Rep. Paul KanjorskiU.S. Rep. Paul KanjorskiDemocrats today dismissed a new poll showing U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Nanticoke City) in a perilous position as Election Day nears, saying their own internal polling showed the longtime incumbent still leading Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta.

The poll release this morning by Franklin & Marshall College showed Kanjorski trailing Barletta by nine points in the 11th Congressional District, one of the most competitive races in the country.

"We dispute the Franklin & Marshall poll's validity," Kanjorski campaign spokesman Ed Mitchell told PolitickerPA.com. He specifically took issue with the large number of senior voters polled.

"We expect to win, and that's because Congressman Kanjorski stands up for the middle class," Mitchell said.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released its own poll of the race this morning, claiming that Kanjorski holds a nine-point lead, not Barletta. But the DCCC provided almost no polling data to reporters.

LOU BARLETTA! The new breed against the illegal immigration inva

"We expect to win, and that's because Congressman Kanjorski stands up for the middle class," Mitchell said. Perhaps! But is record on anti-illegal immigration is poor to non-existent.

Only a few elected official are doing the right thing for the legal population. Remember many states have 'Sanctuary city' laws, where death is in the streets and highways from criminal illegal aliens. Now the word is out these illegal families will head for greener pastures, where they can still extract money from welfare programs. I'm sure California will welcome more illegal aliens with open arms, even though the have drained the treasury of $11. billion dollars. When ICE knocks on their door eventually--and they will, under the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088). Deportation is an absolute certainty. Whereas, voluntary departure 'ATTRITION' means you can re-apply like all the millions of patient legal immigrants. IT'S YOUR FAMILIES FUTURE. DEPORTATION OR OVERPOPULATION. IF WE DON'T STOP IT NOW, MILLIONS WILL KEEP COMING TO APPEASE PREDATORY BUSINESSES. JOIN 756.000 other American patriots at www.numbersusa.com , to stop the travesty of our immigration laws. Single Issue Candidate

I hate to break this news to the staunch anti-illegal alien folks, but the republican party and their wealthy contributers are the money behind the influx of illegals flowing across our borders. Barletta can rail on Fox all he wants, but he will be shot down by the White House, Halls of Congress and Supreme Court for all of his trouble. The GOP loves cheap labor as it forces all of us members of the working poor to accept less wages and fewer benefits.

For the record, Kanjorski is also in favor of dealing with this issue and securing our borders. Part of this solution is huge fines and prison terms for those companies who hire these illegals. You won't see this happen, however, because those folks contribute a lot of money to Bush and friends.

If people in the 11th district think life will be better with Lou, I have a bridge to nowhere in Alaska to sell them. Lou Barletta will not have the influence in DC to bring this district peanuts. Our standing may not be great, but at least Paul has been able to bring some money back into this district from Washington. His staff has been extremely helpful in dealing with the many problems that constituents have dealing with the VA, Medicare and Social Security benefits.

If the GOP ticket wins the White House and we lose Kanjorski, Northeastern Pennsylvania might as well secede. It will be like we don't exist to those in power and for the many senior citizens and disabled in our part of the state, life will become just that much harder.

Tommy, you need to get your

Tommy, you need to get your facts straight.
The people that support keeping illegals here are the Dems as they pander like fools to this group. Check the votes on the latest defeated amnesty bill.
Also, Kanjorski was on board for giving illegals everything they wanted until he knew Barletta would run against him. Read his editorials from the Scranton Times! Now he's had an amazing transformation.
Kanjo has been highly unethical if not criminal with what he has done. He hardly deserves to be in the H of R, Lewisburg is more like it.
If your area collapses because this thief isn't in Congress, it's a sad testimonial to the other good people that make that area great. Wake up.
