Nutter calls himself ‘low maintenance’ and ready to campaign

DENVER--People keep asking Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter if he's spoken to U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) about helping the presumptive Democratic nominee win the White House, and Nutter's response is always the same: He's ready to roll.

This morning, Nutter, who was one of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) most fervent backers during the weeks leading up Pennsylvania's April primary, took it a step further.

Before rousing the Pennsylvania delegates into applause during the delegation's opening breakfast here, he said that Obama's national political director had called him on Saturday, and that all he was waiting was instructions.

"I'm one of the more low maintenance political people," he told reporters. "I don't need a lot of attention. Tell me my role and what needs to be done, and I'll do it."
