Corbett: 'Very sad day in Pennsylvania'

HARRISBURG -- Highlights from the question-and-answer session of Attorney General Tom Corbett's press conference today when he indicted 12 former and current House Democratic staffers and lawmakers:

• Corbett: "Very sad day in Pennsylvania."
• Corbett stressed today's revelations are only the first phase of indictments in this investigation.
• He refused to comment whether House Majority Leader Bill DeWeese (D-Greene County) is implicated in the ongoing investigation, or about how much the Democratic leader knew about the widespread use of bonuses.
• Would not comment if any of those charged have plead guilty or turned themselves in.
• Would not comment on rumors of sex room used by House Democratic caucus
• Corbett said the investigation has been pushed through "fairly and speedily as we possibly can. We will continue to do that with the other three caucuses."
• He took issue with those who say the investigation is politically motivated, ticking off a list of Republicans he has prosecuted in the past. "Crime doesn't have a notion of whether it's Democratic or Republican.
• $1.285 million in secret bonuses handed out by House Democrats -- does not include all money given in exchange for political work.
