Kanjorski aide says robo-calls untrue

The planned nationwide robo-calls attacking Democratic congressmen for not advocating domestic oil drilling will miss the mark with U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Dimock), said Ed Mitchell, Kanjorski's media consultant.

Scheduled to start Wednesday, the robo-calls from the conservative advocacy-group Freedom's Watch will criticize Democratic congressmen for voting against oil exploration on the continental shelf.

But the 11th Congressional District representative has voted in favor of drilling off-shore and in ANWR, Mitchell said.

"I think they've picked the wrong one in Kanjorski," he said, adding that it's "very negative if it's not based in fact."

Freedom's Watch "sort of stretched the facts" like the Democrats did when they were trying to win Congress in '06.
