New Russell ad hits at Murtha, tries to raise money

A new ad from Congressional candidate Bill Russell's campaign drives right at one of his candidacy's main themes: Democrat John Murtha's accusations, since proven false, that U.S. marines killed Iraqi civilians in cold blood.

The ad shows clips of Murtha telling multiple reporters that "there is question in my mind what happened here," referring to the deaths of Iraqi civilians in Haditha.

"They killed innocent civilians in cold blood," he said in one clip.

The ad ends with a message saying seven of the eight marines accused have been acquitted.

Russell, who returned Aug. 1 from active duty in the armed services, has made Murtha's comments the centerpiece of his campaign. The candidate has said Murtha's comments were a comfort to the enemies who marines were fighting in Iraq.

Although Russell's campaign released the ad on the Internet, it won't air on TV until mid-September, according to Campaign Manager Peg Luksik. The campaign is trying to raise $200,000 with the ad from donations before it air.

Russell's fundraising has been the hallmark of his campaign, surprising everybody with the amount of money he has been able to bring in from across the country.

There He Goes Again. Little Billie Russell Challenging John Murtha Has More Integrity Problems.

Johnstown, PA - Already having complaints filed against his campaign with the Federal Elections Commission, MoveonRussell.org has learned, Russell now stands accused of running his campaign out of the Pentagon while on Active Duty.

WOW! Can it be true that the Pentagon is beginning to look at Little Billie Russell's conduct while he served on active duty??? The dangers of active duty military, especially military officers, getting involved in politics is dangerous to our Constitution and well recognized by our military. Admiral Mike Mullen, JCS Chairman said, "If you are in the military, stay out of politics." Now we are hearing from well placed contributors that the Pentagon is seriously reviewing rumors that Russell ran his political campaign from the Pentagon. Clearly, Little Billie Russell played fast and loose with military regulations, traditions and laws. Could he be reckless enough to violate laws? Apparently yes.

What does it appear that Russell did? Well, for beginners, he is is accused of rolling his cell phone over to a Pentagon phone, and using Pentagon faxes and office space to directly manage his campaign. Then there are the obvious violations of appearing on an extremist radio talk show (Michael Savage) while on active duty and identified as an Army officer. He still claims to be serving on active duty on his website signing as Lt. Col. William Russell rather than identifying himself as retired. And his fundraiser mailings are signed by Lt. Col. William T. Russell (USAR)

A military officer is expected to maintain the highest standards especially when it affects the Constitution of the United States and actual lives. We hope that Russell was not performing any significant responsibilities and that no one died when Russell was on the phone at the Pentagon talking about his campaign. Little Billie Russell clearly does not possess either the integrity or the judgment required to hold political office to represent the 12th District. Next time you see him or the media, ask if Little Billie Russell used the Pentagon as his campaign headquarters in any way.

Is it really true that Russell let his former campaign manager, a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran with agent orange diabetes, go because he couldn't walk.
Please tell me that this is not the kind of a thing that Russell does to disabled veterans.

When Murtha forgot the meaning of Semper Fidelis, in my eyes he ejected himself from the Marine Corp family.

To denegrate fellow Marines the way he did - for pure political reasons - I cringe every time it's mentioned that he WAS a Marine.

Murtha has NO honor, and NO integrity! He does NOT BELONG IN CONGRESS!

But it's going to take some work to smear him.. not like Murtha, who smears HIMSELF every time he opens his stupid fat mouth.

Gawd I hope this is the year Fat Jack is sent packing. He is a weasel, a disgusting human being, and that's BEFORE he slandered our troops.

Russell could be a former Abu Ghraib guard and still be better than Murtha. YOu can't smear russell ENOUGH to make him worse than Murtha.

But keep trying.

Any vet who would smear his own this way and call into question the tenacity and toughness of the military in any way shape or form... is a COWARD!! You hear that Murtha, you Socialist Slimeball? You're no VET! You're a sniveling, whining COWARD! You whine so much you should have a cork in your mouth and a label on your fat ass! After hearing this idiot, Pelosi asslicker speak ill of this country for the last few years, I've come to the conclusion that he only did his time in the Marines for the three hots and a cot. Lazy good for nothing... Any idiot who votes for a democrat is someone who has his hand out all the time for something he doesn't deserve... GET TO WORK!
