District 10 congressional candidate Chris Hackett is out with a hard-hitting television advertisement slamming Republican primary opponent Dan Meuser as being too liberal.
"Who can we trust to stand up for us? Dan Meuser has a long history of supporting liberal democrats. Last election Meuser gave $5000 to Ed Rendell,” the ad says. “Last year Meuser gave thousands to liberal New York Congressman Charlie Rangel who proposed the largest tax increase in history. And Meuser even had his company give money to Hillary Clinton. Dan Meuser if he is willing to bankroll Hillary Clinton what would he do in Congress?"
Hackett spokesman Mark Harris did not detail the size of the buy.
The district, which sits in the northeastern part of the state, is an area where advertising rates are relatively inexpensive. The buy can be seen as an aggressive move to stay on the air as the primary race heads into its final weeks.
Hackett and Meuser, both businessmen, are facing off in a May 20 primary for the right to challenge first-term Democratic incumbent Chris Carney in November.
